Federal debt crisis threatens state bond ratings

Maryland Reporter - By Len Lazarick - Jul. 27 (News) - The federal debt crisis continues to threaten Maryland’s prized AAA bond rating, and “the state is likely to lose in almost any scenario,” Warren Deschenaux, the legislature’s chief fiscal analyst, told lawmakers Tuesday. If the federal debt cap is not increased, “I don’t see much in the way of a happy ending for the state,” Deschenaux told the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee.

The New York City-based collector had showed up at the Maryland Historical Society on Saturday with a plate of cupcakes for the center's staff, a goodwill measure that The Sun says is a "calling card of sorts." Jason Savedoff, an accomplice, arrived with Landau, and apparently, the two of them have been busy. The Historical Society of Philadelphia says the pair, sometimes using pseudonyms, has visited a dozen times so far this year but behaved very oddly.
