The areas that excelled: 1. Great title and opening lead. -Something that should not be overlooked, but the title is a great attention grapper and the lead entices the reader. 2. Great overview of the story. -The reader does get the sense of the struggle of passing the bill for same sex marriage. First, stating the issues of why the bill is not yet passed and having statements from the parties that are for and against the bill. 3.Supplying important information. -Explaining the current situation of the bill and the process it must go through. This is very important for readers that are not familiar with the legislative process. 4. Great use of pictures. -Having three pictures that show supporters, protestors, and the House ... More »

I think this is a good story because it is relevant to what is going on in the world today. Same-sex marriage has been a big issue for a while, so I think that it is important to keep the public updated on a bill that could potentially change people's lives. There are some grammatical errors in the story, and I think that a few paragraphs are repeated towards the end. I had to go back and read them a few times over because I felt like I had read them before. Besides the grammatical and editing errors, this is a good story and it is well supported with quotes from recognized people in our state's government.

I enjoyed reading this story. Although there were a few typos, that didn't take away from the raw content and information that was included. I felt that the writer chose quotes wisely and placed them only where they were best suited. Even though I already know some information about this topic, I think it would have been helpful to include a little bit more background information and some opposing views. My biggest issue is that the article felt as though it ended a little abruptly. Overall, I give this article a thumbs up, as it seemed factual and that the writer put in a good amount of effort.

I think this story is very good journalism. The reporter reached out and received several sources and quotes to help expand his story. The topic is very relevant, and has been a huge debate not only in Maryland but across the country.

The topic was timely and interesting. It should have focused on the other side of the issue a little more and highlighted the reactions of more people. There were a few typos and grammar mistakes. It also repeated some information and used some unnecessary partial quotes. Overall, it was an interesting story and relevant to our times.
