This article is an exact example of social capital. It shows that the community is very involved with the recent Arizona law. This article also created a public forum by giving both Mr. Stoleto’s argument along with Mrs. Stoleto’s counter-argument, and vice verse.

This article doesn’t really promote social capital because it doesn’t get people involved in the community, it just explains why the “virtual fence” that Bush proposed in 2006 is such a waste.
This story had race/ethnicity fault lines as well as an age fault line. The race fault lines were obvious, because the article was basically saying that Obama will get immigration reform done with more time. There is an age fault line because the younger crowd, generalized as the more liberal crowd, sides with Obama by saying that he needs for than a day or to make substantial change, while older, more conservative people are wagging their fingers at Obama for not getting it done sooner.
This article is framed in a way that makes the anti-immigration side of the issue seem invalid. It doesn't give the other side much of a fighting chance. The fault lines are on age and obviously race and ethnicity. Age because different generations of people see the issues in different ways; generalizing older generations as "nativists" and younger generations a\s more liberal.
This article wasn't very descriptive when it came to the details of how they took care of the package. I would like to read more about what Raul Grijalva has to say about it, and how fast they took it away from the office.
I felt that the article didn't explain the complexities of the issue. It didn't explain what Sheriff Joe Arpaio's top aides were doing at the time of "misconduct" and "abuse of power," as in what their current tasks were that would give them such great authority over others. This article did offer depth and understanding of the issue. The author even explained what would happen if the case is treated as a criminal investigation or an administrative investigation. This article raised questions for me because I fee that it didn't inform me about who these people are as much as I would have liked. This article will make public dialogue more negative towards the police force in Arizona, especially since the immigration law is ... More »

The article’s purpose was to explain the complexities of the issue of Harry Reid voting “to give special tax breaks to illegal aliens.” So yes, it did explain the complexities of the propositions he voted on and how they weren’t directly to benefit illegal aliens. The article offered depth and understanding of the issue by showing its knowledge of the amendments that Sharron Angle’s ad skewed. The article clarified all of my questions. I wondered if he was very partisan ... More »
