I am a 21-year-old broadcast journalism student at the University of Maryland. Even though I am a senior and will soon graduate with my B.A. in journalism, my plans are to go to law school to study media law and intellectual property law. I am joining NewsTrust for my journalism course with Prof. Ronald Yaros.

This story presented some good scientific information but did so in a poor way. The writing was extremely difficult to follow and the paragraphs were far too long, preventing an easy read of the article. In addition, while the maps provided some good visual data, they were not talked about enough in the article. Finally, the story served more as an advertisement for the story than an honest discussion of its strengths and limitations.

There are plenty of businesses who are not coming back to America and I feel that they do not have a say in this article. I also think there could have been a government source in the article. However, I can understand the position of why they weren't included, so I did give this article a good review. I thought it had a good local slant to it - which is not always preferable, but when the story is local-specific in a local newspaper, then it can be nice to read.

I did not think this was good journalism at all. I thought it was poorly written and not easy to follow along with. I also thought the article started off with a broad tone and did not follow through; it felt very incomplete to me. The article was also sourced almost exclusively with democratic sources. I would not recommend this article.

This is an interesting piece. What it lacks in depth it makes up for in storytelling. The connection between the affairs of Martha's Vineyard and the illegal immigration problems of the country as a whole was a little loose, but this was still an interesting piece.

The article seems a little bit childish. Gleick could have done so much more to prove his point - using other sources, getting quotations, proving something instead of saying it - but instead he got hung up on name-calling. I am on the fence about climate change and this article did nothing to swing me to either side of the fence.
